- concentrate on what the sender say by clearing your mind of other mind of other thought and by giving the communication process.
- doodling avoid or playing with desk accessories or object while interacting with others
- accept senders for whom they are not how they express themselves or how they appear to be.
- avoid `tuning out ' senders whose conversation may not be intrinsically to you because the content is dull, irrelevent, or difficult to understand.
- learn to listen to the nonverbal component of a message with your eyes as well as the verbal component with ears
- keep your listening speed consistent with sender's conversation rate
- seek clarification of message if you do not understand them.
- learn to listen more objectively by not allowing your preconception, biases, prejudices to infiltrate the communication process
- listen as intently to unimportant message as you do the important
